“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings." - Masanobu Fukuoka
Kickstart your growing journey with our beginners' RGB (red, gree, blue) grow kits! Great as a gift or to exercise your budding green fingers. Let's grow!
🔴 Red Amaranth microgreens - Earthy beet flavour. Bright red colour. Delicate blade-shaped leaves. Rich in vitamins A and C, high in potassium, iron, calcium, manganese, fibre, and folate. Use them to brighten up any dish as a garnish or mix some into your salad for added nutrition and flavour. Recommended to sow 10 seeds at a time. Keep indoors until seed germinates. Once germinated, transplant into bigger pot. Place in partial sun setting. Red Amaranth should be ready for harvest within 10~14 days. Check out the grow-along video here!
🟢 Genovese Basil - Sweet, clove-like flavour. Dark green colour. Aromatic shiny leaves. Rich in beta-carotene, vitamin A, cryptoxanthin, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Add them into any vegetable, poultry, or meat dish or make pesto out of the freshly harvested leaves. Recommended to sow one seed at a time (1 seed = 1 seedling). Keep indoors until seed germinates. Once germinated, transplant into bigger pot. Place in partial sun setting. Begin light harvesting after plants have become established. Reuse self-watering pot to germinate more seeds.
🔵 Butterfly Blue Pea - Practically no scent or flavour. Vivid deep blue colour flowers. Flower is rich in anthocyanin, a potent antioxidant that is also what gives it its fascinating colour-changing properties. The antioxidants in butterfly pea can rejuvenate the skin by stimulating collagen synthesis and lessen the signs of ageing. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of flower extract can also help alleviate pain and reduce fevers. Throw them into salad to add colour or steep as tea to make a calming caffeine-free herbal tisane that has similar antioxidant properties as green tea or use as a natural food dye. Recommended to sow one seed at a time (1 seed = 1 seedling). Keep indoors until seed germinates. Once germinated, transplant into bigger pot. Set next to fence for plant to creep under full sun.
Each grow kit (⌀11cm x 12cm) includes:
- Instructional sticker label.
- One pack of potting mix.
- One pack of seeds (Red Amaranth, Genovese Basil, Butterfly Blue Pea).
- Self-watering planter system, consisting:
- Inner pot with geotextile and wick.
- Transparent outer pot.
How does the self-watering planter work?
Our grow kit is self-watering as it consists of two pots (non-singular use plastic); the inner pot that holds the grow medium (potting mix, soil, leca, moss etc) while the transparent outer pot holds the water or nutrient liquid.
A wicking system helps to transfer the water or nutrient liquid from the outer pot to the medium via capillary action and keeps the medium moist as long as the wick is in contact with the water or nutrient liquid. This allows for minimal maintenace and approximately once a week watering. The outer pot is transparent so it is convenient to know when it is time to top up the liquid.
Inside the inner pot, there is a layer of geotextile which prevents particles from entering into the contents of the outer pot. Both inner and outer pots can be easily washed for future rounds of growing.
RGB bundle is a promotional offering of getting 3 kits at one go.
